Magic Sands Part Dose. (Two)

Thanks to our beloved Australian friend Andrew, who was so gracious to drop us off at Magic sands, we were able to experience the bathtub warm waters of Kailua-Kona. It felt so wrong swimming around in the ocean, because I know that in reality I should be study for the two midterms I have the day we return. Yet at the same time, I knew it was the place I am suppose to be. Which probably doesn't make sense to anyone reading this, but I'm calling it a God-send! =)

After our playful banter in the water, we decided to head back to the YWAM campus so we could rent some Mopeds to travel around town with. Yet the question was still in order...how are we getting back? Well...A good 5 mile walk never hurt nobody. However, "Hell-No" never seemed so appropriate! (Mom don't worry, I didn't say that…out-loud) =)

So Ross and I start our journey back with outstretched arms, and thumbs raised! Pointing towards the Heavens in hopes that God would direct his favor towards us! Hitch-Hiking is the name of the game! So we walk...and walk...and to tell you the truth, it's pretty tiring sticking your thumb out for minutes at a time! Call me a "Nancy", but I now have a much higher appreciation for hitch-hikers!

After a good 15 minutes of walking, to our surprise, a car pulls off to the side behind us! We did it! This actually worked! A very kind, tan, and shirtless gentlemen tells us that we can hop in the back of his pickup, but he is "only heading as far as the liquor store."

"Fine by us" we say! Victory!

We arrive at the destination, still not at our desired location, but none the less thankful! We start our walk again with our thumbs raised with even more confidence...And then bam! Another ride! Let me tell you...we are good!

This guy however, was in a rush.

Creepy Dude: "Eh, get in da bed Broda's!"

Us: "Ok! We really apprecia..."

Creepy Dude: "QUICK! and don't hurt the Mangos!!"

We attempt to hop in the bed, but we are met with 4 garbage cans filled with empty beer cans, water bottles, and a box of mango's! Hardly any room! So Ross and I sit on top of the tailgate, hold on to his truck bed, rack frame, and hold on for dear life as he immediately starts to speed off!!

He swiftly delivers us to our destination and we give him a quick "Mahalo" as he speeds off...

Hitch-hiking...never thought I would need it...but praise the Lord! Probably one of the most fun things I have ever done! I can proudly say that I am a new man because of this experience. Ross, who has much experience in this area, said to me, "Once you finally get one, then they just keep coming!" I’m going to take that to heart in more than just one area of my life! Thanks Ross! It's too bad that we weren't able to be in the actual cab with them, because it would have been great to pull the Jesus card, and spread the Good News...but who knows? Tomorrow is another day!
